Steven Howard Dye, 69, of Albany, Oregon passed away Monday, January 11, 2016. He was born in Toledo to William Xaiver and Patricia Ann (Sturdevant) Dye.

He lived most of his life in Albany. He graduated from Albany Union High School in 1964 and received his Associate’s Degree at Salem Technical Institute, which is now Chemeketa Community College.

Steven was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Toledo. His basic philosophy of life was, “Less is more.” He lived a simple life.

He was an inventor, published poet, and entrepreneur. He loved the outdoors and was often found at the river, fishing.

Steven is survived by his sister, Cynthia Sitton, of Springfield; brother Richard Dye of Salem; former wife Laurel (Kilchenmann) Aust; two nephews; one great nephew; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, and uncles.

A celebration of Steven’s life will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, at Sweet Waters Family Restaurant: 2830 Santiam Hwy, Albany, Oregon.
