Sonia Haydee Romero, 71, of Sweet Home passed away Monday. She was born and raised in Guatemala City, Guatemala to Emma Rosa Herrera Martinez and Jose Edmundo Meza Azurdia and moved to Southern California in her early 20’s. 

Sonia has lived in Oregon for the past 27 years. She loved animals and prior to living in Oregon raised canaries and was able to mimic their song. She loved gardening, reading poetry and devotionals, baking and sewing things for her grandkids. She also enjoyed watching travel documentaries and aspired to visit the places she saw. She also loved to listen to music and was known to break out into a dance whenever a song was playing. 

She is survived by her husband Jose Romero of Sweet Home; her children: Fabiola Romero of San Diego, CA, Jose Gustavo Romero of McMinnville, OR, Haydee Romero of Los Angeles, CA. Surviving siblings are Carmen Alicia Schaper of Bellflower, CA and Mario Meza of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Grandchildren are Mila Romero of McMinnville, OR and Yasmin Wright and Elsie Wright of San Diego, CA.
