Shirley Viola Garrels, 96, of Albany, Oregon, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Great Grandmother passed peacefully on Monday the 14th of January 2019 at the Mennonite Village. She was the the daughter of Harold E. Davis and Ida Gladys Maxson, born on Oct. 11, 1922 in Early Iowa.

She married the love of her life, Clarence R. Garrels, in April 9 1941. In 1943, their families moved to Oregon with their two small children, as well as her parents, nine siblings, and nine cousins.

Shirley loved gardening, needle work, and was a wonderful homemaker.

Surviving family includes her children, Larry and Beverly; sisters Ardyce, Janice, Alice, and Linda; and grandchildren Leann, Daniel, Anthony, Carrie, and Chris. She also leaves five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Myrl, Albert, and Ralph; and sisters Esther, Verla, and Norma.

Viewing will be at noon on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
