Ruth Alice Huffman Baker, 94, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Tuesday, December 6. She was born in Ethan, South Dakota to Henry and Lydia (Sandman) Rumbolz.
She served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. She was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean War and attained the rank of Staff Sgt.
Ruth retired from Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles in 1984 after 17 years of service.
She enjoyed bowling and gardening. She was a long-time member of Sweet Home Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Frank Gates, of Sweet Home; son Roger Huffman of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter Laura Osterkamp of Baker City; grandsons Cecil Hadley of Sweet Home, McKenzie Sullivan of Baker City, and Emery Huffman of Peoria, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Cecil Huffman; brother Richard Rumbolz; sisters Ardith Evans, Dorothy Gray, and Wanda Heinz.
A reception with viewing will be from 10:00 a.m., to noon Monday, December 11, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
