Robert L. Melcher, age 40, of Sweet Home died unexpectedly, but peacefully, March 18, 2010 at his home Thursday. He was born in Lebanon to Michael O. and Glenda L. (Harcrow) Melcher.

Robbie was self-employed by Melcher Logging. Robbie was a member of the Association of Oregon Loggers and Hawthorne PTC. He was also a member of Community Chapel and St. Helen’s Catholic Church.

He loved hunting, shooting, logging, carpentry, and woodworking. He also enjoyed golfing, truck driving, detailing, and just shooting the bull.

Robbie is survived by: his wife, Maryann of Sweet Home; daughter, Kayla; son, Cameron; dog, Tug; parents, Glenda and Mike Melcher; brother, Scott (and Wendi) Melcher; nephews, Nate Melcher and Chris Melcher; parents-in-law, Bill and Judy Horak; and a large number of extended family in the Sweet Home and Roseburg areas.

A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 24, at St Helen’s Catholic Church in Sweet Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 25, in the new gym at Sweet Home High School.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Robbie Melcher Scholarship Fund through the Sweet Home Alumni, or to the Melcher Family Fund at the OSU Federal Credit Union, Lebanon branch.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
