A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Holley Christian Church. Graveside service with military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Gilliland Cemetery.
Richard Aaron Collingwood, 80, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019. He was born in Junction City to William Aaron and Ethel Florence (Tolman) Collingwood.
He served in the United State Air Force as a Airplane mechanic from 1959 to 1961.
Dick spent his youth in Junction City. He moved to Flagstaff, Arizona after joining the Air Force. Following his service, he moved to Eugene, where he met and married Trudy in 1966. In 1969, they settled together in Sweet Home, where he resided the rest of his life in the country.
He was a horse farrier and trainer in his younger years. Later, he worked as a mill worker in Eugene, Marcola, and Foster. He retired as a forklift driver after 31 years with Foster Mill. After retirement, he enjoyed tractor work.
Dick was of Christian faith. Throughout his years, he attended the Free Methodist, First Assembly, Mennonite, and Holley Churches.
He loved hunting, fishing, target shooting, and animals, especially horses, dogs, and cats. Dick enjoyed motorcycles, quads, tractors, and reading. He loved spending time with his family.
Dick is survived by his wife, Trudy Collingwood; son Scott and his wife, Ciji Collingwood; adopted daughter Yari and her husband, Ian Scofield; grandchildren Jocelyn, Lydia, Abigail, Elisha, and Isaiah, all of Sweet Home; brother Ed Collingwood of Springfield; and sisters Jo Burrelle of Eugene and Bernice Archibald of Gold Beach.
He was preceded in death by son Lee Aaron Collingwood in 1996; infant sister Wanetta; and his parents.
