Patrick James Wood, 61, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis. He was born in Canyonville to Donald James and Ruth Lorrain (Miller) Wood. He was the fourth child.

The family moved to Brownsville where Pat spent all of his school years. He graduated from Central Linn High School in 1972.

Pat starting working right out of high school with Waibel Logging of Brownsville. He had a love of logging, which is what his father and uncles did. Pat went on to work at Willamette Industries where he finished there on the cutting crew.

After logging, Pat went back to school at LBCC for water and wastewater treatment. He realized he loved this career. Pat landed a job in Sweet Home at the water and wastewater treatment plants where he later became a supervisor. He later moved on to become the superintendent of the maintenance crew of the public works department in Sweet Home, where he was working when he passed away.

Pat married Teri Lynn Simkins on July 21, 1978 in Reno, Nevada. They started in Brownsville then moved to Sweet Home 30 years ago. Not only were they husband and wife, but they had the honor to be each other’s best friends. They would spend any free time they had together going on many road trips.

Pat is going to be missed for everything he did at work and at home. He loved his family and was always there.

Pat is survived by: his wife of 37 years, Teri, of Sweet Home; sons Donald Robert Wood of Lebanon, James Alan Wood (Jessica Lea Nofziger) of Sweet Home, Patrick Levi Massey of Brownsville; sister Dixie and her husband, John Stires, of Vancouver, Washington; brother Ray Wood and his wife, Wanda, of Lapine; grandchildren: Alyssa, Sarah, Khole, and Jaxson Wood and Danner and Madison Massey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Glenda Muller.

Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Sweet Home Evangelical Church. Inurnment will take place at Gilliland Cemetery.
