Viewing will be at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, September 21, at St. Helen Catholic Church with a recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 a.m., and Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Private interment will take place at Gilliland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Kids Food Pak of Sweet Home.
Olga Klara Markert, 100, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Thursday, September 14. She was born on March 15, 1917 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Anton and Olga (Gall) Gali.
Through her life, Olga lived in Montana, Pennsylvania, California, and Oregon. She settled in the Sweet Home area in 1974. She was a homemaker, CNA, and waitress.
Olga had a passion for making quilts and collecting dolls. She also enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles.
Olga is survived by five children: John Markert, Bill Markert, Kathy McDowell, Tony Markert, and Fred Markert; two brothers: Fred Gali and Jerry Swope; two sisters: Freida Dent and Shirley Rex; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz Markert; one child at birth; and ten siblings.
