Myrtle Ruth Carter, 104, of Stayton, Oregon passed away Thursday, September 6, in Stayton. She was born in Gray, Washington to Elmor and Fannie (Marlow) Carter.
Myrtle went to school in Juneau, Alaska, then moved to Seaside, and then to Eugene for twenty years. Upon retirement, she moved to Sweet Home to be near her daughter, Eileen, and family.
Myrtle worked as a cook and waitress. She was an active volunteer for Sweet Home Senior Center for over twenty years, helping with Meals On Wheels, Gleaners, and the Linn County Sheriff Association.
Myrtle was a faithful follower of Christ and member of Highway 20 Church of Christ. She loved working and helping others whenever she could. In her free time, she did crocheting, embroidery, and reading.
She last lived at Brookdale Assisted Living in Stayton to be near her granddaughter, Christie Beitel.
Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Eileen F. Seleen of Sweet Home; granddaughters Olivia Cornell of John Day, Lora Wehner of Bandon, Christie Beitel of Stayton, and Karen Coady of Camano Island, Washington; ten great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Roberts.
