Mildred Sheridan, 92, formerly of Sweet Home, passed away Friday, April 16, in Albany. She was born in Portland, Oregon to Sven Herbert, Sr., and Elsa (Anderson) Willner.
Mildred spent her grammar school years in Portland, and then moved with her mother and brother to Clatskanie, Oregon. Mildred graduated from Clatskanie High School in 1935. After graduation, she returned to Portland to attend beauty college. She graduated from Marinelo Beauty School in 1936.
She found her first job in Dallas, Oregon after graduation. It was in Dallas where she met her husband to be, Jerome James Sheridan. Mr. Sheridan owned restaurants in the Dallas area. They were married November 25, 1937 in Long Beach, Washington.
When the United States entered World War II, her husband joined the army. Mildred remained in Dallas and purchased the beauty shop where she had worked since 1936. During the war years, she did volunteer work at Camp Adair, near Corvallis, Oregon. At the conclusion of WWII, she sold her business and joined her husband in Grass Valley, California, close to where he was stationed. A son, Jerry, was born to the couple on April 12, 1947.
In 1950, the family moved to a rance on Brush Creek Road in Crawfordsville, Oregon. They lsold the ranch in 1968 and moved to Sweet Home later that year.
Jerome passed away in January 1982. MIldred continued to live in Sweet Home until May 2004, and then she sold her home and moved to the Mennonite Village retirement community. She lived there until shortly before her death.
Mildred was a member of Neighborly Neighbors Birthday Club while living in Sweet Home. She enjoyed reading, television soaps, crocheting, gardening, and travel. She volunteered at local care facilities as a hairdresser.
Mildred is survived by: her son, Jerry Sheridan and his wife, Marilyn, of Albany; and grandsons, Tim of Scio and Corey of Albany.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jerome Sheridan; parents, Sven Herbert Willner, Sr., and Elsa Willner Owens; brother, Sven Herbert Willner, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Florence Willner.
