Mildred “Midge” Vroman, age 87, of Scio, passed away Monday at her home. She was born in Roseburg, Oregon to Robert James and Alice Viola (Brumbach) Hatfield.
Mildred was known as Midge to everyone. She married Donald M. Leverich on November 8, 1941. He had a daughter from a previous marriage, Sylvia Irene. Their son, Donald Steven Leverich, was born in 1945. They moved their family to Dixonville, Oregon in 1947, where they bought a grocery store. They sold that store and moved to Cloverdale, Oregon in 1950 and lived there until 1960, when they moved to Sweet Home, Oregon. Donald passed away June 8, 1972 and she stayed in Sweet Home.
Midge married Earl Vroman on April 4, 1984. He passed away two years later. Midge lived in Sweet Home until she moved to Scio with her son and daughter -in-law in 2001. Midge worked at Whites Electronics in Sweet Home for a few years after Donald’s passing and prior to her second marriage. She liked to garden and work with ceramics.
She is survived by her son, Donald Steven Leverich, of Scio; step-daughter, Sylvia Rego, of Chandler, North Carolina; brother, Jim Hatfield, of Aumsville, Oregon; sister, Louise Nims, of Hebo, Oregon; three grandchildren, Joanie Ward, David Leverich, and Sherrill Fries; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Chloe, and Caden.
Midge was preceded in death by husbands, Donald M. Leverich and Earl Vroman; grandson, Richard Ward; two brothers, Joe and Pete Hatfield; and two sisters, Helen Starr and Lois Miles.
