Michael James Owen
April 7, 1953 - May 7, 2011
Michael James Owen, 58, of Cascadia passed away in his sleep while holding the hand of his soul mate, Rosie Evans. He was born in Salem.
Michael is a beloved son, father, brother, boyfriend, uncle, and friend.
Michael was the lead vocalist of the country-rock band, “The Night Riders,” in Clay Center, Kansas. He was an amazing musician with a beautiful voice who performed in multiple concerts and musical shows in the Kansas area. Michael’s off-beat sense of humor, crazy stories, laughter, and voice will be remembered by all.
Michael never met a stranger and brought joy to many. He loved playing his guitar, singing, hiking, fishing, shooting, mushroom hunting, and the beautiful mountains of Oregon. Michael had a passion for cooking as well.
Michael had many talents and a great love for life that he shared with his true love, Rosie, and his children over the years. He was a great friend with a huge heart that enjoyed bringing happiness to others. He was one of a kind and will be dearly missed by all.
Michael was a friend and employee of Timber Harvest, Inc., a logging company in Sweet Home where he worked for many years. As a watchman for Melcher Logging he was able to enjoy the things he loved most in life. He will continue to watch over these mountains as this is where he felt most at home, at peace, this is where he belonged, where he lived and where he died.
Michael is survived by: his loving mother, Donna Welliver Owen; his brothers, Rick and Tim Owen of Green, Kansas; his children, Joshua Cranmer, Jessica Hobbs, Jason Owen, Bonnie Owen, and step-son Johnny MacDonald; as well as his grandchildren, Tyler Hobbs, Aleeya Owen, Kris Owen, Makenzie Morgan, Aries James Owen, Jasmine Cranmer, Michael Morgan.
We celebrate his life and hold him dear to our hearts. God bless you, Dad!
Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
