Michael Alan Healy, 69, of Sweet Home passed away Thursday February 29, 2024. He was born in Lebanon on November 4, 1954 to Gene and Carla (Christensen) Healy.
Mike graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1972 and entered the US Navy soon after. While in the Navy he spent time aboard the U.S.S. Rogers DD-876, 4 1/2 months in SEAL training and received a National Defense service medal.
He married Sylvia Windscheffell in 1978, they raised two boys, Doug and Tyler together before divorcing in 1993.
Mike married Connie Hornecker on March 17, 2005 and lived in Wyoming for several years before returning to Sweet Home in 2012.
He spent most of his working years as a truck driver, driving long haul, log trucks and water trucks. He owned his own log truck for many years before retiring in 2020.
Mike was known for his quick wit and stellar sense of humor, but he also had immense ingenuity and could build, fix, or fabricate anything. He always had a project or invention of some kind that he was working on (two of which he held U.S. patents) He built life-size stagecoaches, covered wagons and constructed many slab wood tables from logs that he cut in his portable sawmill. His latest project was building a pontoon/party boat from ground up.
Mike is survived by his wife, Connie Healy of Sweet Home; mother Carla Healy of Sweet Home; children: Doug Healy of Junction City, Tyler (Audrey) Healy of Albany, Matt (Liz) Schoonover of Beaverton, Tim Schoonover of Chicago, Andrew (Jennifer) Schoonover of Surprise, AZ and adopted daughter, Aurora Bechtel of Sweet Home; siblings: Pat (Melanie) Healy of La Crescent, MN, Pam (Dale) Miner of Sweet Home, Teri (Allen) Lowery of Sweet Home; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by his Dad, Gene Healy and grandson Devon Healy.
