Marjory “Margie” Virlea Kikel, 91, of Sweet Home, died Wednesday November 24th. She was born January 26, 1930, in Atascadero, CA to Edward and Zelma (Groves) Cardwell. She has lived in Sweet Home since 1939. She graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1947 and The University of Oregon in 1951. She did post grad work at Oregon State, Portland State University and University of Oregon.

Margie received the Presidential Award for saving a life at Fern Ridge Reservoir. She worked with the red cross for many years working with the blood mobile, teaching swimming and first aid. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She was a member of PEO and a former member of O.E.S. She played bridge with a Thursday Bridge Club since the early 1950’s.

She is survived by her children: Stephen P. and his wife Rene Kikel of Virginia, Virlee S. Kikel of Sweet Home, Ronald F. Kikel and his wife Jill of Bend, Valerie C. Martinez of Portland; brothers: Stephen G. and his wife Trudy Cardwell of Beaverton, Kenneth E. and his wife Janice Cardwell of Arizona; one grandchild Zoe Kikel Storemont of Portland; two great grandchildren: Rowan and Ona.

Memorial service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday November 30th at United Methodist. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the American Red Cross. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. www.sweethomefuneral.com
