Mabel Nettie Baxter, 97, of Crawfordsville, Oregon passed away Sunday, November 15. She was born on February 14, 1918 in Fruita, Colorado, the daughter of Clyde and Nettie Mae (Meadows) Barker.

Mabel married Warren Marion Baxter on March 17, 1934 in Grand Junction, Colorado. The couple came to Sweet Home in 1942.

She owned and operated two restaurants over the years; one in Albany and one in Sweet Home. Mabel was a member of the Sweet Home Assembly of God Church and the Crazy Eight Club in Holley.

Mabel is survived by: two sons, Douglas (Ellen) Baxter of Culp Creek, Oregon and Ernest (Pat) Baxter of Sweet Home; six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 11 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Warren Baxter, in 1990; two brothers; two sisters; one adopted brother; and great grandson,: Cody McFarland.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 20, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.
