Luella Shepard, born on April 8, 1931, in Bondad, Colorado, peacefully passed away on December 23, 2023, in Harrison, Arkansas. She was the cherished daughter of Everett and Naomi Babbitt.
Luella was a woman of remarkable talents and unwavering love. Her hands created art through quilting and sewing, weaving together the threads of love and warmth that embraced her family. She found joy and solace in her craft, leaving behind a legacy of beautifully crafted pieces that will be treasured for generations.
Her heart overflowed with affection for her faithful companion, Baby, a loyal dog who brought immense joy to Luella’s life. Their bond was a testament to the profound connection between humans and their furry friends.
Luella’s role in the family went beyond the ordinary; she was the glue that held everyone together. Her nurturing spirit and unconditional love provided a foundation that strengthened the family bond.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Robert D. Shepard, her brother, Eldon Babbitt, and her grandson, Justin Shier. Luella is survived by her two devoted daughters, Cheryl Towne and husband Pete of Winnemucca, Nevada, and Sharon Brown and husband Willie of Harrison, Arkansas. She leaves behind a legacy in her four grandchildren: Laura Hollenbeck and husband Steve of Springfield, Oregon, Ruth Fitzpatrick and husband Robbie of Winnemucca, Nevada, Sarah Gleghorn and husband Charles of Harrison, Arkansas, and Stewart Spangle of Harrison, Arkansas. Additionally, she is survived by numerous other grandchildren who were touched by her love and wisdom.
Local arrangements are under the compassionate direction of Holt Memorial Chapel. A viewing will be 11 am to 12 pm Thursday, January 11th at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel, followed by a burial to honor Luella’s memory at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home, Oregon.
