Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweet Home. Viewing will be one hour prior to services at the church. Internment will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 10, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Lebanon, Oregon.
Lola Rosella Perkins, 78, of Henderson, Nevada and Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Friday, October 30, in Beaverton.
She was born in Crawfordsville to Howard Elmer and Christena Viola (McCole) Newton in her great grandmother’s homestead, which had been in the family since 1854.
Sweet Home, Oregon was her home no matter where she lived. She had lived in various places, including Albany, Corvallis, Astoria, Salem, and Cornelius, Oregon, and recently, Henderson, Nevada.
She was active in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various capacities, including as a Cub Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Primary President, and as a full-time missionary.
She enjoyed family, friends, singing in the choir, family reunions, spending time outdoors, streams and creeks, mountains, the beach, and gardening. Her favorite hobbies were genealogy and writing history.
She is survived by: her husband, Rodney W. Perkins; her sons, Joseph A Miller, Johnnie Miller, and Charles Dooney and their spouses; her daughter, Angela (Dooney) Kidd; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded her in death by: her late husband, Darrell L Wetherbee; her granddaughter, Amanda (Miller) Fewless; and her brother, John Newton.
