Viewing will be at noon, Monday, January 12, 2015 at Harvest Christian Center. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m., also at Harvest Christian Center. A graveside service with military honors will take place at Gilliland Cemetery.
Leonard Harlin Allmon, 92, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Tuesday, January 6. He was born in New Liberty, Missouri to Thomas F. and Mary Ann (VanWinkle) Allmon.
Leonard served in the US Navy from August 5, 1942 to December 18, 1945 in American and Asiatic-Pacific waters during WW II. He was honorably discharged and left the service with a Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Leonard followed the Point System Discharge and earned his discharge based on his job as machinist mate, third class V6.
He and his wife, Lila (Carter), moved from Toledo to Sweet Home in 1978. Leonard retired after working 21 years for Ken Roggie Lumber Sales.
Leonard was a very religious man and loved the Lord. He was a Deacon on the Counsel Board for the Church of God for more than three years. He loved working on cars, hunting, and building trailers and many more things.
Leonard is survived by: his wife of 67 years, Lila Allmon; sons, Raymond and Thomas Allmon; brother, Gerald Allmon; grandchildren, Johnny, Mary, Sally, Christopher, Steven, Julia, and Jimmy; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his daughter, Loretta (1985); brothers, Milton Allmon (1998) and Delno Allmon (2014); and great grandson, Joshua (1996).
