Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweet Home. Viewing will take place 30 minutes prior to services at the church. Internment will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
George Watson, 71, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Thursday, January 29. He was born in San Diego, California to Leonard Eugene and Beatrice Jewell (Newman) Watson.
He served in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant from January 26, 1967 to October 18, 1972. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the AFM 900-3.
George lived in St. Helen’s, Oregon from 1983 until he moved to Sweet Home in 2005. He was an electrician for Boise Cascade from 1977 until retirement.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a executive secretary, ward clerk, in scouting, stake missionary, seventy, and Temple worker in Portland. George served in the Raratongo mission for 2-1/2 years.
George enjoyed wood working, fishing, hunting, scuba diving, basketball, football, and camping. His proudest achievement was his family.
He is survived by: his wife, Connie Watson, of Sweet Home; children Leigh A. and her husband, Nathan Robbins, of Seattle, Washington, David D. Watson of Rainier, Oregon, Andrea G. Watson Burnham of Clackamas, Amanda J. and her husband, Patrick Regan, of Boise, Idaho, Kelly A (Watson) and her husband, Nathan Dorathy, of Nyssa, Randy Couch of Sweet Home, Cheri Morck of Murray, Utah, Sandi and her husband, Phillip Edwards, of St. Helen’s, and Garren Friedman of Cascadia; siblings Jeanne Bleeker, Dorothy Motley, Donnie Holton, Larry Watson, Curtis Watson; twenty-five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
