Kenneth Eugene Blackwell, 85, of Eugene, Oregon passed away Saturday due to complications from dementia. He was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma to John and Anna (Fay) Blackwell.

In 1962, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. After receiving his Master of Divinity from Fuller Seminary, he left California to work in the ministry in Priest River, Idaho. He later returned to education and counseling. Upon receiving his Masters of Education from Whitworth College in 1967, he moved the family to Oregon. Until his retirement, he worked as a counselor at the junior or senior public high school level.

Throughout the years, he was a dedicated athlete (long distance running and bike rides, golfing, tennis, and daily dedicated exercises) and practiced regular church attendance.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Barbara J.C. Blackwell, of Eugene; daughter Alyssa Scott of Phoenix, Arizona; and granddaughter Katianna Scott also of Phoenix, Arizona.

At Kenneth’s request, there will be no services. Friends wishing to honor Ken in some way are encouraged to make a donation in his name to their favorite charitable cause.
