Junior “Burlon” Miller
December 22, 1938 – October 11, 2023

Junior “Burlon” Miller, 84, of Sweet Home, passed away October 11, 2023.
We are saying goodbye to a local legend. Whether you loved him or not, the man lived life on his terms and it was a full and productive life.
Burlon was born in Salem to Ernie and Opal Miller. He graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1957. From 1961 to 1963 he was enlisted in the U.S. Army where he achieved the rank of second class specialist (PS5). He said he had a lot of fun in the Army, even though he never saw combat. He mostly drove the general around and had fun. He was qualified as an expert with the M14 rifle. 
After the Army, Burlon came back to Oregon and began a lifelong career in the trucking industry. He worked for companies like Haley Construction and TomCo. He said Amos Horner fired him about 30 times. With the help of Kenny Robertson and Deyanne Alexander, they started RAM Trucking in the early 80’s. RAM stands for Roberson, Alexander and Miller.
For those who don’t know, Burlon had a love for hot rods, Chevy pickups, Peterbilts and the ladies. He never met a stranger because he had a certain charm and wit that was unmatchable. He also enjoyed working in his yard and traveling to Cabo San Lucas. Burlon married Donna Dunmeyer, and they had two daughters, Dawnita and Vonda. 

Burlon is survived by daughters Dawnita (and Shawn) Anderson, and Vonda (and Dean) Reitz; sister Levena Muller; grandkids Nick and Courtney; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Pat and brother Daryl.
I would like to finish by saying that I am extremely lucky and proud to be his son-in-law. This man helped shape my life and I am forever grateful. I love you, and I’ll see ya on the other side.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m on Thursday, Oct. 19th at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Followed by a private burial. A celebration of life (casual attire) will be held at the Elks Lodge starting at 2 p.m. Guests are invited to the potluck and encouraged to bring their hot rods. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
