June Calhoon, 91, of Sweet Home passed away Friday. She was born in Portland to Hugh and Jeanette Emma (Thomas) May. She lived in Portland and Vernonia areas until 1950 when she moved to Sweet Home. For the last two months of her life, she lived at Hill View Adult Foster Care in Lebanon.

June was a Christian and went to Victory Faith Fellowship. She was loved very much by her family and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family. She was a fabulous baker and cook. She was always taking food to people.

She enjoyed painting, rocking hounding, camping, the outdoors, and singing, and she played multiple instruments. She liked politics and was very patriotic.

June is survived by children Jeanie and Wayne Thorpe of Sweet Home, Connie and Lonnie Peck of Florence, Vivian and Robert Carpenter of Bend, Meredeth and Robert Woodard of Sweet Home, Carol and Dennis Lewis of Sweet Home, Melody and Derek Hutchison of Albany, and Barbara and Rick Wyant of LaPine; 24 grandchildren; and many great and great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Calhoon, sisters, Barbara Lloyd and Marian Reynolds, and granddaughter, Jodi Rice.

A private burial was held at Gilliland Cemetery. A celebration of June’s life will be held later this summer.
