Joseph Edward Schlabach, 90, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013. He was born in Hubbard, Oregon to Lee Andrew and Magdalena (Hochstetler) Schlabach.

He served in the United States Army as a corporal during World War II. Joe had several professions, which included truck driver, heavy equipment operator, and gas station owner. He enjoyed rock collecting and polishing, hunting, and fishing.

Joseph is survived by: his son, Donald E. Schlabach of Vancouver, Washington; stepson, Gary Margason of Tigard, Oregon; stepdaughter, Diana Olson of Scio, Oregon; brother, Larry J. Schlabach of Oregon City; sisters, Ada Wrightsman of Roseburg, Mary Jane Holmquist of Tucson, Arizona, and Dorothy Ringer of Sherwood.

He was preceded in death by: his son, Richard W. Schlabach; brother, Gerald L. Schlabach; sisters, Velma Cozzutt and Sarah Williams Alta Brewer; and wife, Florence Jean Schlabach.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 4, at 1:00 pm at Sweet Home Christian Church, 1825 Long Street. Military honors will follow at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home.
