John Marinus Bats, 91, of Sweet Home passed away Sunday at Timberview Care Center in Albany. He was born in The Netherlands to Pieter Tekke and Leentje (Bakker) Bats. He came to the United Sates with his family when he was 10 years old.

John served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1943. He received an Honorable Discharge.

He is survived by: his sons, Robert Bats and Henry Bats; daughter, Rhiannon Bats; sister, Alice Turner; brother, Peter Bats; and five grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by: wives, Pat Bats and LaRee Bats; oldest son, John Bats, Jr.; and brother, Henry Bats.

No services are planned. Final burial will take place at Gilliland Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
