Herbert William Anderson, 79, of Sweet Home passed away Friday. He was born in Murphy, North Carolina to Lee S. and Inez (Cook) Anderson.

He served in the United States Army for three years. He lived in Sweet Home for over 40 years.

Herbert was a hard working man. He worked for Pope and Talbot for many years and retired in 1976.

He loved to make bird houses. He was an outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish and go crabbing. He enjoyed gardening, driving his tractor and caring for his property. Herbert took great care of his cows.

Herbert is survived by: his wife, Sylvia; children, Ray Anderson of Georgia, Larry Anderson of Georgia, and Rita Anderson of Arkansas; step children, Julie Reynolds of Sweet Home, Sharon Minshull of Albany, Charlotte Whitesitte of California; brothers, J.T. Anderson of Georgia and Edgar Anderson of North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his son, Edward Anderson; parents; and brother, Junior Anderson.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
