Fred Cecil Samson, 84, of Sweet Home passed away Saturday. He was born in Finley, Washington to Roy Andrew and Mary (Younce) Samson. His mother was a Cherokee Indian and Fred was proud of his Cherokee heritage.
Fred drove log trucks and worked in mills for many years in the Brownsville area. For 15 years, he never missed a day of work and was never late, while working on job in Montana. Fred attended the River of Life Fellowship.
He loved hunting and fishing. In his youth, he was sent out to hunt and his love of hunting and fishing continued throughout his life. Anything outdoors made him happy. He enjoyed making things out of wood. Fred played guitar and taught all of his family to play. He was in a band when he was younger. Fred loved to talk and debate and tease, but was very loving and caring at the same time.
He is survived by: his children, Cathy Ann Walker-Whitmore, Fred Andrew Samson, David Wayne Samson, Dan Rae Jaeger, Rick Jaeger, Jim Jaeger, Alan Samson, Rob Samson, and Radine Jaeger; and numerous grandchildren; and great grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by: his daughter, Connie R. Tucker; son, Ed Jaeger; six brothers; and two sisters.
