F. Jeannette Porter, 87, of Lebanon, Oregon passed away Wednesday, June 22. She was born in Miami, Arizona to Walter Lee and Flossie (Campbell) Griffis.

Jeannette married Jim Palmer on March 1, 1946. Jim passed away. She later married Keith Porter on July 17, 1990.

Jeannette lived in many different places in her life, including: Miami, Arizona; Vancouver, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Long Beach, California; Stafford, Arizona; Cheyanne, Wyoming; Wichita, Kansas; Mt. Home, Idaho; Eugene, Oregon; Hokkaido; Honshu and Fukuoka Japan; Ft. Lee, Virginia; back to Portland; Albany; Toledo and Lacomb where she has lived for many years.

Jeannette worked for Portland Steelyards during WWII, Meier and Frank in Portland, OSU,and GAPS Bus. She ran a personal business driving truck loads across the nation with her husband, Keith Porter. In Portland, she was a realtor. In Virginia, she was an Air Force spouse and a member of the Gray Ladies Club. She was born into and an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking, genealogy, and photography. She liked having an organized and clean home. She collected cow decorations for a long time. She loved meeting all her distant relatives as she was able during her truck driving career.

Jeannette is survived by her husband, W. Keith Porter, of Lebanon; daughters Patsy and her husband, Jack Burnett, of Nevada, DeeDee and her husband, Doug Biegel, of Albany, Susie and her husband, Charles Fountain, of Lebanon; brothers Dave Griffis of Nevada and Ed Griffis of Portland; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Journal James “Jim” Palmer; son Dennis Palmer; daughter Jamie Jeannette; sister Norma Schnoor; and grandson Spencer Biegel.

Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lebanon. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
