Eugene A. C. Patterson, 88, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Saturday, September 17. He was born on June 26, 1928 in Webster City, Iowa to John and Ora (Trent) Patterson.

Eugene married June Newcomb on July 4, 1947. Gene enlisted in United States Marine Corps and served in the 3rd Marine 2nd battalion from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. After Gene returned, he and June lived in Iowa, then Southern California. In the late 1960s, they settled in Sweet Home.

Gene had an auto body shop in Sweet Home where the Wells Fargo bank now stands. He loved working on cars and appreciated well done auto body work. He was a model railroader and always had a new setup he was working on.

Gene was a member of Sweet Home Evangelical Church. They became his family after June passed away.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, June, and all of his siblings. He leaves his nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 23, at Sweet Home Evangelical Church. Contributions in Eugene’s name can be sent to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice or Sweet Home Evangelical Church.
