Edward Arthur Cutler, 88, of Sweet Home passed away Sunday. He was born in Aberdeen, Washington to Melvin and Eunice (Martin) Cutler.
He moved from Aberdeen to Dallas, Oregon in 1930 and spent summers at the beach in Cutler City, a part of the 20 miracle miles before being annexed with Lincoln City.
Ed worked at the Vancouver shipyards during World War II as a ship painter. In 1946, he began working for Willamette Valley Lumber Co. in Dallas, later to become Willamette Industries.
Edward Arthur Cutler
He transferred to Corvallis in 1952, taking his wife Jean (Domaschovsky) and their two sons, Brian and Randy with him. He and Jean later divorced. As his career with Willamette Industries took shape, he moved to Salem, McMinnville, Redmond, Albany and finally to Sweet Home where he lived until his death. Ed retired from Willamette Industries in 1989 after 43 years of service. He enjoyed his job and worked hard. He also played hard.
In 1972, he married Elma Jean (Lovely-Kyriss) in a ceremony in Hawaii and became father to her two sons, Brad and Jeff Kyriss. Ed loved going to Hawaii each year to celebrate their anniversary. He enjoyed traveling and computers and mapped out travel plans for their motor home trips. Ed was a great organizer for fundraisers or ‘fun’raisers.
He was a life member of BPOE. Ed received Sweet Home Jaycees Boss of the Year award 1979-1980 and received Sweet Home First Citizen award in 1981. He was on Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for three years and was active on Highway 20 Committee.
Ed is survived by: his wife, E.J.; sons, Brian (and Joyce) Cutler of LaPine and Randy (and Ruwinee) Cutler of Sri Lanka, Brad (and Connie) Kyriss of Tigard, and Jeff (and Lynn) Kyriss of Manzanita; brother, Jacque Cutler of Dallas; brother-in-law, Edwin (and Audrey) Lovely of Eugene; six grandchildren and their spouses; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
