Dorothy Mae Nelson, 89, of Creswell (formerly of Sweet Home), passed away Wednesday at Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend of causes related to age. She was born in Mitchell, Nebraska to Norval and Lucille (Whitworth) Bennett.

Dorothy was a homemaker and raised her children. She loved bowling, sewing, and collecting giraffes and she loved to walk on the beach. She played baseball on the high school team and graduated from Sweet Home High School.

Dorothy is survived by: her son, Jerry Nelson of Cresent City, California; daughters, Donna Boon of Creswell, Wanda Koschnick of Chula Vista, California, and Carol Nelson of Beaverton; five grandchildren and eight grandchildren; and brothers, Clinton Bennett of Foster and Leo Bennett of Sweet Home, who both graduated from Sweet Home High School. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Harlan R. Nelson; sister, Susan Williams; and brother, Edward Bennett.

Viewing will be from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon Monday, December 6th, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home, Oregon.
