Services were held Tuesday, March 20th, at Gilliland Cemetery. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.
Donald D. Hugley, 78, of Sweet Home, died on Friday, March 16th, in Albany.
He was born in Manning, the son of Burl and Elma (Abbott) Hugley. Donald moved to Sweet Home in 1945.
He entered the United States Army in 1950 and served as a private first class during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1952 and returned to Sweet Home, where he married Betty Amundson on March 13, 1946.
Donald was a logger and professional musician who worked with Bobby Bare, Buck Owens, Tommy Collins, and Ray Price during his long musical career. Donald was also a commercial fisherman and worked at Oregon Plywood.
Donald loved being in the woods, picking mushrooms and ferns, spending these activities with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and every year.
Donald is survived by wife of 59 years, Betty I. (Amundson) Hugley of Sweet Home; son, Ronald Hugley, and daughters, Melody Ferdani and Nancy Berggren, all of Sweet Home; sister, Ina Lehtz of Bloomington, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Ivan and Wayne, and one sister, Maxine, preceded him in death.
