Derek Glenn “Deac” Cooley, 48, of Sweet Home passed away Saturday. He was born in Stockton, California to James and Shirley (Hogard) Cooley.

He lived in French Camp, Manteca and Stockton, California. He moved to Sweet Home in 1990.

Derek worked in various fields before going to work for ODOT in 1999.

He enjoyed picking and selling wild mushrooms, RC’s, yard sales, and computers.

Derek is survived by: his wife, Kelly Malone Cooley of Sweet Home; stepsons, Timothy Holley of San Diego, Jeremy Sanders (and his wife, Amber) of Sweet Home; sisters, Tracy Menear (and her husband, James Jacks) of Sweet Home and Kristi Cooley of Stockton, California; four grandchildren; ten nieces; four nephews; four grand-nieces; three grandnephews; and countless others he loved as his own through the years.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Cooley, in 2002 and his mother, Shirley Hogard Cooley, in 2009.
