Delores Patricia “Patty” Schuller, 90, of Sweet Home passed away Thursday. She was born in Walla Walla, Washington to Lester and Lilah (Smith) Fender. Her sister, Donna, was two years younger than her.

When Patty was four years old, her family moved to Chula Vista, California where her parents owned a service station.

Patty graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1939. While she was taking classes at San Diego State, she met a dashing gentleman, 10 years her senior, who swept her off her feet and changed her plans of becoming a kindergarten teacher. Patty became Mrs. Dick Schuller in 1940. Patty and Dick welcomed their daughter, Leslie Ann, in 1943 and son, Richard John, in 1947.

In 1949, Dick and Patty heard the Gospel and made their choice to serve the Lord. Their lives were forever changed as God’s will was now the center of their lives.

In 1951, they moved to the 640 Del Mar home that so many of us remember. They enjoyed the privilege of Sunday worship services in their home for over 30 years.

Dick passed away in 2002. Patty stayed in their home for another five years before moving to Oregon in 2007. She loved her smaller house and loved helping those less able than her. In 2010, she moved to Wiley Creek and was adored by residents and staff.

Patty is survived by: her daughter, Leslie (and her husband, Sherman) Weld of Sweet Home; son, Rick of Oceanside, California; grandchildren, Scott, Shelly, Andrea, Stephanie, and Jamieson; and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by adoring nieces and nephews and numerous others that counted Patty a dear friend, both in California and Oregon.

A public viewing will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Service and final burial will take place at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
