Cheryle Diane Friesen, 64, of Sweet Home passed away Friday. She was born in Fullerton, California to Joe and Marion (Trogdon) Cota.

Cheryle was raised in Chino, California until she moved with her family to Sweet Home in 1963. She graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1965. After High School she attended and graduated Beauty College in Springfield, Oregon. Cheryle married Don Friesen September 1, 1967 in Sweet Home. She had her own beauty shop for years inside a nursing home and loved making the residents feel pampered.

She loved to cook and bake, and she was a talented cake decorator. Cheryle spent many Friday mornings looking for treasures at yard sales. She could take something old and make it shine. Cheryle loved and spoiled her grandkids.

Cheryle is survived by: her husband, Don Friesen of Sweet Home; mother, Marion Cota of Sweet Home; children, Teresa Idris of Beaverton and Tony Friesen of Salem; siblings, Joe Cota of Lebanon, Deana Kocan of Richland, Washington, Sue Olsen of Sweet Home, and Jim Cota of Sweet Home; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Joe Cota, in 1999 and sister, Lollee Braatz, in 2005.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, at Jim Riggs Community Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
