Charles “John” Rice, 62, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Sunday, August 27, at his home of natural causes. He was born in Lebanon to Charles Clarence and Betty June (Points) Rice.

He worked as a logger and lived in Sweet Home his entire life. He married Gail Rice and had two children. They later divorced, and he was together with Kathy Myronenko who had three children.

John was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. He also enjoyed sports and coaching his son when he was younger, and was a huge Oregon Duck fan. Later in life, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Nathan Rice; daughter Tarrah Rice; father and step-mother Charles and Elsie Rice; Kathy’s children whom he considered his children: Kristen Ford, Jessica Myronenko, and Eric Myronenko; sisters: Carol Krigbaum and Debbie Rice; as well as his six grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Betty, and brother, David “Lee” Rice.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 2, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
