Viewing will be from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm Monday, September 24, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1155 22nd Ave., in Sweet Home. Funeral will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Ames Cemetery in Sweet Home.

Buryl Marion Brown, age 78, formally of Cascadia, died Thursday at his home in Lebanon. He was born in Fairview, Oregon to Charles and Delilah (Mays) Brown.

Buryl attended school in Berlin and Lebanon and delivered milk for Foley/Bohle Brothers Creamery in Lebanon. When he was just 15 years old, he took flying lessons from Ralph Scroggins. He was a sawyer for Santiam Lumber Co. in Sweet Home, and also a sawyer and mill foreman for Amos Horner in Fairview.

He married Dorothy Rozell July 10, 1948 in Reno, Nevada. She preceded him in death Oct. 8, 1982.

He married Patsy Saily Reck on December 28, 1984 in Reno, Nevada.

He was a Boy Scout Leader in Cascadia.

Buryl supervised the building of a sawmill in Wrangell, Alaska and was the mill manager. He went to Japan to look at sawmills on a company trip. He loved to take his grandsons fishing in Alaska. He also shared his knowledge with children. He was a great mushroom hunter and loved to grow a beautiful garden.

Buryl retired from Triple T Stud Co. May 1994. He traveled to Michigan in June of 1994 with his brother, Glenn, and wife, Patsy, to see gold and copper mines and families.

Buryl was the 5th great grandson of Daniel Boone and made a trip back to Missouri in June of 2002 where Daniel’s home was and where he died.

Buryl is survived by his wife, Patsy; daughter, Linda Hall of Aberdeen, Washington; sons, Larry Brown of Seward, Alaska, Lonnie Brown of Puyallup, Washington, and Lloyd Brown of Wrangell, Alaska; stepson, Walter Reck of Albany; stepdaughters, Melinda Johnson of Sweet Home and Lucille Oeder of Lebanon; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and 13 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Robertson of Fairview, Gladys Jackson of Corvallis, and Lanore Yonker of Niles, Michigan; brothers, Ted Brown of Springfield and Glenn Brown of Whitefish, Montana; and numerous nices and nephews.
