A viewing will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Church of the Nazarene in Sweet Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home.
Birdie Jane Westfall, age 79, died Friday, February 13, 2009. She was born in The Dalles, Oregon to Ira and Eva M. (Spaur) Cramlet.
Birdie and her twin sister, Betty, traveled and performed on a radio program called “Stars of Tomorrow” when they were 12 years old. Yodeling and singing were among Birdie’s favorite things; she even sang with the Senior Choir and band.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene for more than 30 years where she served as a member of the Church Board.
Birdie enjoyed hunting and fishing, bowling, and panning for gold. She liked to play card games with friends and family. She will be remembered for her cherished collection of Teddy Bears. Her family and church were the most important things in her life.
Birdie is survived by her son, John Westfall; sister-in-law, Dee Cramlet; nieces, Diana McDaniel (husband, Shawn) and Bonnie Thrift; grand nephew, Jason Cadwell; numerous other nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Westfall; son, George Westfall; five brothers; and one sister.
