Bill Shockey, 82, of Sweet Home passed away Wednesday. He was born in Lexington, Oklahoma to Willie and Lora (Bond) Shockey.

He came to Oregon from Oklahoma in the late 1940s. In 1952, he, his wife, Betty, and son moved to California so Bill could attend California Baptist College.

Bill was a pastor for Baptist Churches throughout the Northwest for over 50 years. There were also periods that he worked in the Sweet Home area sawmills.

He enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Bill is survived by: his wife, Nora Shockey of Sweet Home; sons, Ken Shockey of Terrebonne and Ron Shockey of Washington; daughter, Kathi Downs of Sweet Home; brothers, Cliff Shockey of Oklahoma and Olen Shockey of Eltopia, Washington; seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Godell Shockey (July 1999), and brothers, Harley and Russell Shockey.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 10, at First Baptist Church in Sweet Home. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
