Betty Weidner, 79, of Sweet Home has gone home to heaven. She was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin to Harvey. and Mabel (Tracy) Spranger and raised in Wisconsin, living in the small town of Vesper, then Stevens Point for college and then with her wonderful husband, Bob, she moved to Sweet Home with their young baby in 1969.

Betty was a faithful member of St. Helen Catholic Church. She was always active and had many roles in the parish. Betty was an employee of the Sweet Home School District after raising her children, working at Holley Elementary, Central Office and Sweet Home High School. She was beloved by her students and coworkers. Betty was a member of St. Helen Women’s Club, PEO and other organizations.

She loved her family and friends. She and Bob were always planning and taking trips to create memories. She was able to visit Europe several times, including maintaining a relationship with family in the Netherlands. She loved quick weekends to the coast, central Oregon and trips to Wisconsin and across the nation, as well as many cruises and other adventures. In addition, Betty loved sewing and quilting, keeping her huge garden as well as canning and preserving. Cupboards and freezers were always full, and homemade bread was always available. Betty was a 4-H leader, taking kids as far as the Oregon State Fair in cooking and sewing, and helping with her kids’ 4-H beef cattle. Betty was also a beloved Girl Scout Leader. She loved living in Sweet Home, and together she and Bob kept beautiful country homes for everyone to enjoy.

The family wishes to thank caregivers Chelcie Kincaid of Sweet Home and Timberwood Court Memory Care in Albany. May she rest in eternal peace and be an angel for those of us left behind.

Betty is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob Weidner; children Tracey (Kevin), Jon (Melissa) all of Sweet Home; grandchildren Mitchell and Ivy; great-grandchildren Bentley and Octavia; siblings Tom (Cindy), Bonita (John), Tony (Kathy) and Mike (Dawn).

She was preceded in death by her daughter Robin; parents Harvey and Mabel; and sister Donna Vruwink.
