Bernard Kolousek, 85, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013. He was born in Crow Lake, South Dakota to Martin and Theresa (Chopski) Kolousek.
He joined the U.S. Navy as a young man, and while he was stationed in California he met and later married Zelma Kirkpatrick. They remained in California until the early 1970s when they relocated to Sweet Home Oregon.
Bernard worked in many of the local mills as an electrician. He was a member of the Sweet Home American Legion and the Sweet Home Genealogical Society. He loved to garden and tend to his chickens and was a hobbyist winemaker. He was a loving husband and father.
Bernard is survived by: his daughter, Cheryl (Patton) Friar of Sweet Home; his sister, Betty Petterson of South Dakota; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
He is preceded in death by: his wife; sisters, Dorothy, Florence, and Sylvia; and brother, Pete.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
