Avis D. Steward, 81, of Sweet Home, died Thursday in Sweet Home. She was born in Durham, Oklahoma to Burt and Ella Paris (Boatner) King.

Avis was an ordained minister and pastored many different churches along the west coast. She loved to cook and sew. She took care of many animals for enjoyment.

Avis is survived by: her sons, Daniel Steward and Richard Steward of Sweet Home; grandchildren, Skeeter Bridge, Jeremy Steward, Rhonda Bailey, Jennifer Kemp, Ami Steward, and Michelle Steward; great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Steward, five sisters, and one brother.

There will be a viewing from 9:00 am to noon Monday, October 11, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 pm at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Lebanon, Oregon.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
