Annona Catherine Tiensvold, 84, a Sweet Home resident for more than 20 years passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday April 20, 2022. After years of dialysis treatment, she made the courageous decision to discontinue her treatment and go out of this world on her terms. She was born in San Rafael, California to Roy Arthur and Annona Shelton (Power) Springett.
She grew up in Mill Valley, CA., the youngest of three daughters in the Springett family. Her mother and father, Annona and Roy Springett, were always showing her the beauties of the outdoors, whether it be fishing, hunting or just camping for the weekend at there favorite lake. Her father owned Springett’s Outdoor Store in Mill Valley, cir 1947. Abalone diving was a family favorite. She loved being with her family and friends and touched so many with her unique spirit. All those who knew her will miss her.
Annona was an accomplished homemaker, painter, knitter, gardener, seamstress, florist and quilter. She donated her time and talents for many years to the local church Christmas bazaars. Many family members and friends still enjoy the quilts and hand knit sweaters that have the tag sewn on it, “Made with Love by Mom.”
After their marriage, she and Clarence moved to Texas and started a peach farm for a few years. They sold the Texas property and they decided to both get their licenses to drive long haul semi trucks across the country. Annona loved seeing the countryside and sent many photos of their travels. When they retired, they finally settled down in beautiful Sweet Home where they created their lovely home on 7th Street.
Annona is survived by her husband of 40 years Clarence Tiensvold of Eugene, her children Michael Szykowny (Mary) of Sonoma, CA , David Szykowny (Rachelle) of Lake Point, UT, Raven Brault (Forrest) of Jacksonville, OR and Theresa Clark (Scott) Petaluma, CA.
Annona was blessed with six grand children: Brian Szykowny, Laura Szykowny, Alexander Szykowny, Ivan Szykowny, Mia Szykowny and Caitlin Clark.
