Ann Elizabeth Rice, 84, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018. She was born in Scott City, Kansas to Christopher and Susan (Heimerman) Stockemer.

She came to Sweet Home in 1953 from Colorado and remained here for the rest of her life.

Ann was a homemaker, mother, mill worker, and fire watcher. She was deeply involved with Sweet Home Senior Center’s quilting club and her church.

She enjoyed quilting, church, and playing cards.

Ann is survived by her husband, Jim Rice of Sweet Home; sons Dan Carper of Sweet Home, Michael Carper of Ft. Benton, Montana, and Randy Carper of Sweet Home; ten grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Whitton, in 2015 and daughter, Michelle Whitton, in 1983.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 21, at Community Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made in Ann’s name to Community Chapel on Ames Creek in Sweet Home or the Sweet Home Senior Center.
