April 2, 1924 – December 13, 2021

Wiley “Shorty” Elvin Dimick JR., 97, of Sweet Home passed away Monday. He was born in Aurora to Wiley Elvin Sr. and May (Yoder) Dimick.

Shorty served in the United States Navy on the USS Haggard (DD-555) destroyer in World War II.

He lived in Oregon his entire life. He had a long logging career. After logging he went to work in Alaska on Tug Boats to bring logs from Anchorage, Alaska to Coos Bay.

Shorty loved, loved, playing cards with the family every week. He enjoyed major league baseball and making bets with the family on the World Series. When not watching sports and playing cards he loved to read and listen to old classic Country Music.

He looked forward to the grandkids and great grandkids visits from Montana and Idaho.

Shorty is survived by his daughters: Karen and her husband Dave Van Epps, Kim Dimick; sons: Scott and his wife Lisa Dimick, Tony Dimick; brother Dick Dimick; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty; sons: Joseph, Michael, Jeffery; daughter Ginger; parents Wiley and May Dimick; brothers: Bill, George, Chauncy, Rex “Scotty”, Harry; sisters: Dorothy, Mary and Betty.

Graveside service with Military Honors will be 1:00 pm Saturday January 8th at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. www.sweethomefuneral.com
