Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2014 at Trinity Baptist Church in Lebanon. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., that day at Liberty Cemetery in Sweet Home.
Veda Estelle Howton, 85, of Lebanon, Oregon passed away Friday. She was born in Atoka, Oklahoma to Robert S. and Leona L. (Webb) Parker.
She lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and Oregon. She lived in Texas when she had three children. She divorced and moved to Mesa, Arizona where she met and married Art Howton. They moved to Oregon in 1965. In 1976, they moved from Scio to Lebanon.
Veda raised cattle while in Scio. After moving to Lebanon she collected and sold baby items for resale. She then began collecting dolls to refurbish.
She is survived by: children Wanda and her husband Jim Swindle of Lebanon, Ronald Cowan of Salem, and Reita and her husband Robert Hurley of Jefferson; grandchildren Mary Tucker, Chris Swindle, Tressa York, Jeffery Cowan, Carey Vance, Jeremy Hurley, David Hurley, Daniel Hurley, and Heather Hampton; 21 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.
