Shirley Jean Whitton, 75, of Sweet Home passed away Monday. She was born in Portland, Oregon to Harry and Frieda (Mostert) Scott.

She lived in Sweet Home since 1947. Shirley married Larry Dean Whitton on August 5, 1978 in Sweet Home.

Shirley enjoyed sewing and cooking and playing cards and bingo.

She is survived by: sons, Louis Trent of Pendleton, Jeff Whitton of Elmira, and Frank Whitton of Redmond; daughter, Becky (and her husband Kelly) Sweeney of Portland; brothers, Harold Scott of Lebanon and Larry Scott of Sweet Home; and many much loved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by: her husband, Larry Dean Whitton; son, Cary Trent, on June 29, 2012; and half siblings, Dan, Buck, and Irene Scott.

Viewing will be held at 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (noon) Friday, July 20, 2012 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A combined graveside service for Shirley and her son, Cary Trent, will take place at 1:00 pm Friday, July 20, 2012 at Gilliland Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
