Shelley John, 61, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. The rain had fallen, the wind had blown, and the chimes had danced one last time. After many days of gray, the skies cleared for a minute to blue, and heaven received an angel on February 7, 2015.

Shelley was born in Provo, Utah to Bruce Brand Sr. and Bernice (Nelson) Brand-Jackson. She grew up in Utah and lived in Germany for a short time. She moved to Alaska in her early 20s, then relocated to Oregon in 1987.

She was a successful, independent business woman for over 20 years. She retired in 2010 to spend more time at home with her husband.

Shelley was the best mother and grandmother in the world. She was loved and respected by many and ADORED by her husband. She loved her grandchildren and spent many hours taking them with her – everywhere.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, reading, cooking, traveling, camping, fishing, and giving of her time and means to those less fortunate. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by: her daughters, Waynette Wilson John and Leanne Cunningham of Sweet Home; son, James Wilson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Andrew Wilson, Samuel Wilson, Gabi Valdez, James Wilson John, and Zak Cunningham; her step-father, Jay Jackson; sisters, Carla Uran, Nancy Carrington, Toni Quinn, and Cheryl Brand; and brothers, Clyde Brand and Dennis Brand. She was preceded in death by: her husband, James C. John (2011); parents, Bruce Brand Sr. and Bernice Brand Jackson; and her brother, Bruce Brand Jr.

Charitable donations can be made locally in Shelley’s name to “SHEM” or to “Food Share.”
