Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel: 1443 Long Street, Sweet Home. Memorial contributions can be made in Ray’s name to SafeHaven Humane Society. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.
Raymond Leonard Lamb, 85, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Reed Point, Montana to Guy and Nettie (Berry )Lamb. His father died when Ray was a baby, and his mother raised him and all four of his brothers and a sister by herself.
Ray served in the US Air Force as a mechanic. He spent four years in the Philippines. After his return from service, he met Shirley Skaggs in 1953, and they were married soon after. Ray and Shirley moved to Sweet Home in 1963 where Ray worked as a lineman for the Sweet Home PP&L crew.
Ray’s interests included family, raising cows, and using his tractor to tend the fields. He devoted much of his time and energy as a caregiver to family members. Those who were lucky enough to have known Ray will remember his SMILE, laugh, and gentle soul. He would have given a stranger the shirt off his back and smiled doing it.
Ray is survived by: his wife Shirley; three sons, Robert, Randy, and Scott, and their spouses; daughter, Tammy and her spouse; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and brother, Don. He was preceded in death by his sister, Violet; and brothers, George, Walt, and Roy.
