Pamela Sue Fortenberry, 66, of Sweet Home passed away Tuesday February 13, 2024. She was born on July 25, 1957 to Thomas O. and Shirley J. (Briese) May in Bismarck, North Dakota.

She graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1975. Pam married Patrick Fortenberry on August 7, 1976. They moved to Ketchikan, Alaska in 1976 where she lived for four years and had their first child Rebel Fortenberry. They moved back to the Cottage Grove area in the early 80’s and had a daughter, Dusty. Then settled in Corvallis and had another son, James. She lived and worked in Albany from 2000-2019.

Pam had a passion for animals. She was active in rodeos throughout high school and her early adult years. Riding her beloved horse Rocco, she was a champion barrel racer and pole bender. Her passion for animals landed her in multiple professions, where she got to work and care for her furry friends.

She also was a talented crafter, who enjoyed bead working, crocheting, and sewing. She loved to garden and enjoyed canning the fruit that she grew.

She was a loving and devoted grandmother who cherished all the time she got to spend with family and her grandchildren.

Pam was tough and never gave up, which helped her battle stage 4 breast cancer for five years never complaining, she pushed through.

After the passing of her beloved husband, she moved to Sweet Home in 2019.

She is survived by her sons: Rebel Fortenberry of Sweet Home, James and daughter-in-law Emily of Lebanon, daughter Dusty Reese and son-in-law Joshua Ashe of Ketchikan, sister: Lori Titus of Burns, brother: Steven May of LaPine, sister: Carla Meyers of Nebraska, grandson: Justin Reese of Ketchikan, granddaughters: Jordyn and Mackenzie Ashe of Ketchikan and Scarlett Fortenberry of Lebanon. Preceded in death by her husband Patrick Fortenberry (2019), father, Thomas May, mother, Shirley May (2019), brother, Tom May (2004).
