Otis Elmer Banta, 92, of Crawfordsville, Oregon passed away Tuesday, September 26. He was born in Crawfordsville to Percy L. and Etta L. (Tolbert) Banta.

He lived in Sweet Home and Crawfordsville.

Otis worked in the shipyards in Portland as a young man. He was a logging superintendent for Clear Lumber until he retired.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working puzzles, and reading.

Otis is survived by children: Kim Banta of Sweet Home, Becky Richards of Sweet Home, Wendy Banta of Crawfordsville, and Shane Banta of Tiller; brother Oren Banta of Eugene; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemarie Banta; son Terry Banta; and eight siblings: Orval Banta, Leo Banta, Hubert Banta, Leroy Banta, Bessie Nichols, Jessie Johnson, Lenore Clem, and Louise King.

Viewing will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 28, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 29, at Union Cemetery in Crawfordsville.
